Otto Addo: Black Stars Must Improve Mental Strength to Stick to Game Plan

Otto-Addo

Ghana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, believes the team has talented players but needs to strengthen their mental game to stay focused when challenges arise.

In a detailed interview following Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Sudan, which has severely impacted their chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, Addo emphasized the need for the team to improve their mindset under pressure.

“The boys have the talent, but it’s a mental challenge. We need to get better at sticking to the game plan when things go wrong,” said Addo, describing the defeat to Sudan as a “hard pill” to swallow.

He stressed that the team’s growth depends on players’ ability to trust and follow the strategy, even in difficult situations. “The main plan must be fulfilled, and the players need to be conscious of their abilities and brave enough to believe in the plan,” he added.
