Michael Agyekum Addo, the visionary founder of the KAMA Group of Companies, has passed away at 74.
Reports indicate that he died on Friday, November 1.
Honored for his contributions, Addo received an honorary doctorate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2005 and was among 88 PhD graduates from the University of Ghana in 2022.
A distinguished entrepreneur, Addo made a significant impact on Ghana’s pharmaceutical industry through the KAMA Group of Companies, which includes multiple subsidiaries. He also held the esteemed title of Nkabomhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area in Koforidua, Eastern Region.
Addo’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1983 with a pharmacy in Kumasi. By 1986, he had expanded into manufacturing medical products from his garage, paving the way for KAMA Group’s growth into a renowned business network with extensive wholesale and retail operations throughout Ghana.
