Liverpool secured a crucial victory over Chelsea at Anfield, maintaining their position at the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 win.
Chelsea started strong, dominating possession in the early stages, but struggled to pose any real threat to Liverpool’s defense.
The Reds took the lead in the 29th minute when Mohamed Salah calmly converted a penalty after Levi Colwill fouled Curtis Jones inside the box.
Just before halftime, Chelsea caught a break when VAR overturned another penalty decision against them, initially awarded after a review by the referee.
The first half ended with Liverpool leading 1-0, extending manager Arne Slot’s record of not conceding in the first half since joining the club.
The second half saw more action, as Chelsea equalized early through Nicolas Jackson. However, Liverpool quickly regained the lead just three minutes later, with Curtis Jones finding the net in the 51st minute.
With this win, Liverpool now sit at the top of the Premier League table with 21 points, while Chelsea find themselves in 6th place with 14 points.
