The Accra High Court has ordered the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to immediately suspend its nationwide strike, initiated over delays in finalizing a new salary structure.
CLOGSAG began the strike on November 7, following an October 22 announcement expressing frustration with the government’s delayed response. Despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) reached over 18 months ago, the association claims the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) failed to meet the October 31 deadline for a revised salary framework.
In a statement on November 4, CLOGSAG’s Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, expressed concerns that the proposed January 1, 2025 implementation date is unfeasible.
Following the National Labour Commission’s (NLC) injunction request, Justice Frank Aboadwe Rockson’s court order restricts CLOGSAG and its members from continuing the strike. The directive, issued November 7, 2024, mandates immediate compliance with the NLC’s instructions from November 6, requiring CLOGSAG to call off the industrial action.
