Akufo-Addo’s administration has been a ‘horror movie’ – Mahama

The presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of undermining the country’s democratic gains over the past eight years.

He pointed to the recent economic hardships and a perceived governance crisis as evidence of this decline.

Speaking at a governance forum in Accra on Thursday, October 31, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring accountability in his next administration.

He urged the public to vote against the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections, characterizing the current situation as a “horror movie” from which they must liberate themselves.

“Our democratic institutions have been put under great strain, for the last 8 years. And all the gains we made in strengthing our public institutions since 1982, have been severely eroded.

“This horror movie Ghanaians have been subjected to for the last 8 years must come to an end. The pledge to protect the public purse was just a folly promise and indeed, as some people say humorously, they have not emptied the public purse, they have stolen the public purse.

“The insatiable greed of appointees of this administration has not even spared the environment, including our water bodies and forest reserves.”
