The flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor, has reportedly passed away at the age of 72. The sad event occurred Monday night around 10 p.m. at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
Details surrounding her passing remain unclear. Born in February 1952 in the Afigya Kwabre District of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Akua Donkor was a cocoa farmer and had no formal education.
In 2020, Madam Donkor made history as one of three female presidential candidates cleared to contest the presidential elections, finishing fifth among 12 candidates. Ahead of the 2024 elections, she appointed Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, as her running mate.
Madam Donkor recently filed her nomination for the 2024 presidential elections and secured the third position on the ballot.
