President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians, especially the youth, to adopt 5G technology responsibly, ensuring it fuels Ghana’s digital advancement without risking data security. Speaking at the official launch of Ghana’s high-speed 5G internet service on November 1, 2024, in Accra, President Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of using 5G to empower key economic sectors for sustainable growth.
Led by NextGen Infraco, this 5G service aims to harness transformative digital potential while guarding against cybersecurity threats. The President emphasized the need for vigilance, stating that 5G’s benefits should not come at the expense of data privacy.
“5G is a powerful tool to shape Ghana’s future, and with this power comes a duty to use it responsibly. We must address data privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible usage to ensure that 5G fosters unity, not division. The youth, who make up much of our population, stand to gain tremendously in this new digital era,” President Akufo-Addo stated, urging a balanced approach to Ghana’s 5G journey.
