The much awaited album, ‘Highlife Konnect‘ of Ghanaian contemporary highlife musician, Ronald Kwaku Dei Appiah better known by his stage name Bisa Kdei, was officially launched on Saturday night April 21, 2018, at Level 8 Lounge in Accra www.myghonline.com can confirmed.
The fifteen-track studio album with the title, “Highlife Konnect” will be the third music album by Bisa Kdei, after a successful release of “Breakthrough” last two years and “Thanksgiving” which was his first album.
The album was produced by “A” list local and international music producers like; himself, Juls, Guilty Beatz, Mix-master Garzy and TK, has the following songs “Asew, Bie Wueni, Hammer, Fakye, Aban, Domi Bi, Life, Feeling, Pocket” just to mention a few, which he (Bisa Kdei) wrote all the songs on the album.
The album features intercontinental acts like Mic Flammes (Togo), Stanley Enow (Cameroon), Oc Osilliation (Zambia), Reekado Banks, Mayorkun and Patoranking (Nigeria) as well as our very own Sarkodie, Yaa Yaa, Awaboah and Kumi Guitar.
According to Bisa, why he chose the title “Highlife Konnect” because his main focus is to link the higlife genre into the international market, also to bridge very gap between Ghana and other parts of Africa and to edge up his fan base universally then again crossing beyond the African continent. So don’t be surprise he had acts from various part of Africa featured on the album.
According to Black Legendary Music frontman Bisa Kdei, after launching the album in Ghana, he will further launch it in other countries including the United States of America, London, Cote d’Voire, etc.
He again thanked the people of Ghana, his fans and the press for accepting his style and type of music he does and also supporting him in his career. He promised to groove his fans with good highlife everyday.
The event witnessed scores of industry players, musicians and renowned bloggers, who came in their numbers to support the 2016 VGMA Highlife Artistes of the Year.
First of all congratulation to Bisa Kdei and his team!
Myghonline.com had the priledge to attend the-first-of-its-kind occasion, why i said this because, Bisa Kdei is the first Ghanaian and for now the only artiste to give a dress-code, which was strictly traditional/africa wear to his album launch. Though i feel he’s not selling only the ‘highlife’ genre but also selling our beautiful Ghana-made wear to the world.
Fifteen (15) track-list to me, it’s cool and pleased. It’s not about the number of the songs on an album but the content, is what matters or important. I have listened to all the songs on the album, i felt moved, grooved and impressed. You will feel the old and the modern kind of highlife riddims or melodies. ‘Highlife Konnect’ is an indigenous and contemporary highlife album.
Bisa Kdei is one of the best songwriters we have in Ghana, so am not surprised he wrote all the fifteen (15) songs on the album as he said and likely, it can win album of the year.
Gradually Bisa Kdei is becoming one of the best and greatest music producers, most of all the songs on the album was produced by himself, same as his second album ‘breakthrough’ and i think it’s a big plus to him.
Though, it wasn’t concert or any big event, but i liked his composure and how he made the press and few guess felt in love with his live performance.
I enjoyed his performance with Kumi Guitar, Akwaboah Jnr and Yaa Yaa as they thrilled us with songs of his, performed live with “Studio B.” band for this time. Bisa Kdei made a point and matured with his performance last night because he had been receiving a lot of criticisms on his performances on stage for being ‘boring’ when performing.
Myghonline.com can boldly say “Bisa Kdei has well-established himself very humble and a mature highlife artist and has been able to hold the highlife mantle very firm and i different dynamics.
Myghonline.com wishes him all the best, I hope to see the album accomplish the purpose for which it was recorded as well as achieve feats of success.
